Mission, strategy, and vision of the Rapallo Border Historical Society — founded in 2017 in Podbrdo
The Rapallo Border Historical Society is a voluntary research society founded in 2017 in Podbrdo. We study the period of the Rapallo border (1920–1947) — a time that represented one of the most severe trials of the twentieth century for the Slovenian lands and their inhabitants.
To prevent the historical oblivion of the period of the Rapallo border. Through impartial research and public presentations, to shed light on life along the border — both for the local inhabitants and for those who guarded and monitored it.
Fieldwork and archival research in the fields of history, geography, and cultural heritage of the Rapallo border area.
Materials for schools, guided hikes, lectures, and symposia for both specialist and general audiences.
We connect museums, tourism societies, schools, and researchers in Slovenia and across the border region.
We record and protect the material remains of the border: boundary stones, guardhouses, and the fortifications of the Rupnik Line and the Alpine Wall.
We welcome every new member — from history enthusiasts to professional researchers. The annual membership fee is €15, payable to the account below.
